keramikos ... Thank you, it's approx 4" tall and driving me nuts .... I know I've seen this pattern before, but no idea where or any decent handle on how to identify it. German springs to mind and then draws a blank!!

To me, that decor has an amphibian vibe.
It also somehow makes me think of the fat lava concept in pottery, so I thought I might look for gold-trimmed lava, and found this. It's definitely not the same pattern, but to me, it's reminiscent:

This is a Mid Century Modern Fat Lava Triangular Covered Box by Marzi & Remy, made in West Germany circa early 1960. It has a very stylish atomic age triangular shape and glazed in highly textured beautiful Cortina crackle glaze. The design features a dark brown underglaze with a white, curdled top Cortina glaze with touches of gold, almost certainly inspired by the Japanese kintsugi repair method. A very nice shape gives to this covered box / bowl clearly modern look.

Given its size, your piece seems like it might be a cream pitcher for a coffee or tea service.
Keramicos .... Thank you again... I've done reptile skin lava and most things in between .... I realise this is not an iota important, but I get so cross ... One time I had a pot for a number of years, which was kind of Picasso..ish, but not. In the end I put it in the bin in frustration !!

I have a few items of my own for which I've never been able to establish any provenance. I'm not putting them in a bin, however. };-)
I swear the real auctions in Germany and not the timed ebays version is the only place to search for quality objects including porcelain is like another world. This design is similar to some of Beswick designs, like this they have the same slope of handle and similar lip with a similar design like this but I think THEY had perfected it where I see where this one is going. When you see the Beswick version you know you have found perfection of the design, where they also have killer deco designs in the pieces too. Using lots of lavish gold and the highest gloss red and blue, and green glosses of the highest quality and sheen... this vase is very nice but beswick perfected this design. I always kick myself for not buying more at the quality shows and selling off. The beswick palm tree line of cobalt blue glass even comes off as an equal or secondary to these style. They are supreme deco and rarest of vase designs !~
I have the second ed. 1999 of the Canadian book on Beswick and price guide only bad thing is drawings where they run out of photos. Also b&w so you cannot see the extreme quality. I will search that. Also I have some of the british books where they show the best deco vases and jugs, I think Beswick was by far King of the jugs. I will spend some time looking for those books also. I had some of those perfect pieces and I sold them off as we all do, I also have my Beswick palm tree which shows of of their best work !~

Made a mistake - It is actually Crown Devon, I am thinking about. The best designs, will research them.
Hope others can chime in on this. The beswick book is 460 pages+ alone. Sometimes maybe 5% is written on the net while there are 100's of books with thousands of pictures that get missed on the net. People think sometimes that everything is on the net but its a new industry compared to books + whats in peoples heads.
