I have to find a piece i can put on top of these. They are very heavy and appear to have been painted at least once. Probably concrete or cast stone. I think they're old - 1930s-50s?

Could they have had a board across them for a garden seat? A flash one of course!

There was a cast concrete “store” near me until about 5 years ago. They poured all sorts of concrete items (tables, benches, statuary, etc) and displayed them on the grounds of the place. They made many styles of bench legs and seats - they were all interchangeable.
It was an interesting place to browse….I bought something every time I went there.
The unusual thing was the payment box: a heavy duty locked metal box bolted to the porch….if no one was there to take your money or check, you just loaded up what you wanted and put your payment in the slot of the box. Honor system.
