    I'm familiar with spoke shaves and other furniture shaving tools. However the sharpen part of this tool is the front of the blade, instead of the back. A normal shaving tool has the user pulling the tool towards themselves. This tool requires you push the tool away from yourself. Am I missing something here? Any help would be appreciated.

      I suggest that it is a cutting tool for cutting/chopping vegetables, herbs etc. Similar to an Eskimo "ulu"
