Smokey got me this for Father's Day but things have been hectic so I just got this last week. It is what everyone needs a 100 foot long tape measure.
This was made by Keuffel & Esser Co. aka K&E. They were known for slide rules and such. Also tape measures in various sizes. This one at 100 ft is about 5 1/2" across and weighs 2 pounds. It is heavier than it looks. The case is metal and covered with red leather. There is a lever that opens in the center to reel in the tape measure. It would take quite a while to reel in all 100 feet. The tape itself is in increments 1-12 inches and then at each foot there is a sticker at the foot mark to how many feet. Probably easier than reading 586 inches how ever much that is.

Nice gift Smokey! He's got good taste. Did Smokey got that for you to measure the length of the fish you get (store bought or caught) so it can be divided evenly?
Keep this handy when you go visiting so you can tell how long you have been there.
You'll probably get a repetitive stress injury if you use it too much.
