HELLO ALL...THREE SKELETON KEYS OR AT LEAST TWO OF THEM, THE MIDDLE BEING A SKULL AUTOMOBILE KEY.
THE TRADITIONALLY KNOWN SKELETON KEY, LIKE THE ONE TO THE RIGHT IN PIC #1, HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR AGES IT SEEMS. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET COPIES IN THE DAY IN ALOT OF AREAS, SO ONE WOULD HAVE TO HOLD ON TIGHT TO THEIR KEY.
THEY WEREN'T ALLWAYS THE TYPE OF KEY FOR SECURITY PURPOSES. SOME WERE UNIVERSAL AND WOULD FIT YOUR NEIGHBORS DOOR.
A MANY OF THINGS HAVE BEEN SEEN THROUGH A SKELETON KEY HOLE!

    THANK YOU,
    T.

My childhood home had 3 exterior doors, all with locks which used skeleton keys and had keyholes anyone could see straight thru. It took a few seconds of jiggling of the key to make the lock work…..pretty scary when it’s dark outside. And that name! Skeleton Key…..Just a terrifying experience for a little kid.
Im loving your post tho….I got over the terror. :-)

Technically I think the far LH is the true 'skeleton key' for a door, the smaller one on the RH is more likely a cabinet or drawer lock key. The actual SKULL car key is WAY COOL -- looks like a GM cut, I've not seen those before though I do have a custom THUNDERBIRD key that came with one of my old cars. :-) :-) :-)
