      You might check into the WARTHER MUSEUM in Ohio, I can't say that this was his work but Ernest Warther created incredible hand-carved wooden items, chains were only one of his specialties.

      I don't want to burst your very,very old bubble but everyone and his brother was carving these during the 1980's. You could get the instructions in handyman magazine and half a dozen others. They were quite a fad for awhile.

      Looks interesting but I agree with fhrjr2 and valentino97….”very very old” yet you don’t know the maker and you don’t know where you got it or even when you got it…..
      How do you determine that it’s “very, very old” when there’s no information whatsoever?
