I need some help identifying this item. When my parents were building there house 60 years ago they found this item during construction. It has been laying in a drawer for years and nobody seems to know what it is. There are two separate markings on the bottom one seems to be in an oval pattern with the last letter being a C and the first may be an M. This may be nothing but we always loved the detail. Thanks.

Hedgewalker got me started looking and I found out this is a Russian Kovsh. It has the Kokoshnik Marks and Makers marks in Cyrillic indicating that the maker was Janaty Sazikov from Moscow ca. 1842 - 1879. And to think my brothers and I used it to dig in the dirt as little kids.
