I am already at the stage of having too many lamps, all made from Japanese glass, yet here I am awaiting the delivery of these three I recently purchased. Note, the photos are from the sellers.
I like every one of these lamps quite a lot but I also like how different they are.

The first speckled lamp is by artist Kaoru Okawa and I'm pretty happy to have found it. He is a senior glassmaker at Hokuyo Glass but this lamp is from his independent work. It is so very Japanese with it's black feet and top, and the rimpa-style decor. It's around 20cm tall. It is relatively contemporary, post 2000 at least.

The second lamp is from Kurata Glass and dates circa 1970. I love the lime green and the bubbles inside the glass are apparently removable. Yeah. I have no idea about that. Will be interesting to see when it arrives what that means. It's around 24cm tall.

The last lamp is from Iwatsu Glass. These penguin lights made by them seem an aberration because Iwatsu rarely made animals and even more rarely made lamps. It's quite tall at 37cm and I think these were made towards the end of Iwatsu's production, so circa 1990.

I'll let you know how they really are when they arrive. It will be a couple of months because I have been having things sent from Japan by surface mail lately as DHL rates have become incredibly high.

A trio of magnificence! Each lamp has its own special beauty but the penguin is enchanting with its perfectly lovely face

Wow, these are amazing! Once again, they sure do glass differently in Japan, & it's awesome to have you as our personal expert guide to it all!
As always, it's both exciting & a tad stressful waiting on parcels to arrive...hope these turn up safe & sound. Also nice to have something to look forward to (don't we all need that in so many ways).
I'm waiting on a few pieces myself, just local finds, plus I bought a funny lapel badge on Etsy to celebrate my vaccination status - planning to wear it with my first snazzy post lockdown outfit - perhaps when I go get a haircut next month!

Gosh, I can hardly take my eyes off the first lamp. Definitely the star of the show for me. I look forward to hearing more on the removable bubbles in due course.

Peggy, I'm also intrigued by the concept of removable bubbles. :-)
They sort of look like tiny beads to me after looking at the photo again...so maybe you can pour them out...like the beans in a bean bag...which, having done so one time, tends not to end well...chasing tiny beads would be far worse than bean bag beans, too... :-)

Well we've learned something new, Marin, but we don't know exactly what yet!!!

Oh,I'd love to have the penguin on my bedside table.!

I don’t know which one I like the best, they are all fabulous.. I too have a think about lamps and have a ‘few’ they give such a beautiful cosy glow in each room, I’ve been told many times the house from the outside looks like a fairy house…..actually!..think it might be the lime green one…..will be interested to also hear about the “removal bubbles”..

      WoW !.!!.!

My vote is number one. It's sooooo Japanese. Even the abstract decor somehow conjures a blossom tree! Love it.

Thanks everyone. There is a good spread of preferences here:
Jenni being a glass animal lover votes Penguin
Marin and Peggy and Inky are fascinated by the 'removable bubbles'
Wow22 loves the rimpa decor lamp
and Kevin is succinct but not swayed to any

      Great comments all. Thanks!

Can't wait to see more photos of the Okawa Vase!
Maybe the second one is bubble wrap?
      sorry couldn't resist :)

so nice the first one seems a peach branch full of blossoms

Those are all so beautifully unique. #1 looks like it has embedded Pearls. #2 the "bubbles" are fantastic. #3 has a marvelous glow, which could be a nightlight at the end of a hallway :)

Simply gorgeous pieces - the introductory piece is just wondrous in its beauty. Too much is clutter but in clutter you will find pieces you never knew that you had, and in that moment that you find them, they will garner the attention and glory that you never knew you had in your collection. Lamps in particular can help garner the love you have when you first had your treasure in tow !~

Thanks Bernard. I agree the Okawa lamp looks great. His work is generally very expensive so I was so happy to find this at a good price. I will post it when it turns up.

Sylvia I think that is a perfect description of this lamp. Thanks!

Thanks Alfie for looking and describing the lamps so well!

      Phil, amazing comment.
As you know light enlivens glass and I do try to light my lamps often.
That light does garner my love for all of my glass.
      Thanks so much.

Ok. Everyone seems to be choosing their favorite... So, I choose the Penguin ! It would be on the table at the end of our dark hallway !
