A while back I posted a new acquisition from Japan, a glass vase enameled by Kinoto Amemiya.
Here are the other Amemiya pieces I have.
Photo 1 shows 4 vases: the front two have been posted on CW before. Front left is a pinkish faceted vase with birds and floral enameling. The front right is crimson glass totally covered with a green and blue foliage pattern highlighted with gold. The back two vases are explained for photo 3.
Photo 2 is a plate with an Egyptian theme, what I assume is Tutankhamen. In front of the plate are two chopstick rests, faceted and painted with flowers.
Photo 3 are two blue glass vases. The smaller is painted with green and yellow foliage with little bunches of white berries. Behind the foliage the blue ground is covered with tiny gold dots. The larger blue vase has pale blue and yellow dots over the blue ground and large gold swirls over that. A close up is shown in photo 4.

It's amazingly detailed and time consuming enamel work.
    Dated between 1960-1980.

I love almost all things Japanese. And most of them are undervalued and don't have the attention they deserve. Awesome pieces.

      Thanks Jenni.
The plate amuses me: a Japanese artist painting an Egyptian figure in a Bohemian technique.
      good hey!

I have to agree Mcheconi, and thanks for the comment.
So much Japanese art and crafts have amazing skill and creativity and is underappreciated.
I will admit it has taken some time to train my brain!

      Kevin thanks!
This collection has taken some years and it's probably big enough, but you know, collectors, I'm still always looking!

Bernard it's certainly a varied collection and he did so many other pieces. I have never seen duplicates but that doesn't mean he didn't repeat patterns.
      Thanks for the love.

It's the old 'photos don't do them justice' I think Inky but I'm glad you could pick up on how detailed hey are.

Probably your most fascinating post so far, Karen. It's great to see the diversity of the work he produced and yet at the same time it's like no other enamelling I've seen. Glad you mentioned the chopstick rests, I was wondering!
