Voila (although yours seems a trifle smaller than the smallest listed):

      Preserving Crock Covers

Our covers are made to fit our 1,2,3,4, & 5 gallon preserving crocks. They protect food during fermentation as well as any food stored inside the kitchen or pantry.

I don't think I've ever seen a crock lid that wasn't made of wood -- this must be 'unusual' at least, though I can also imagine they were just too 'fragile' for their own good...???

thanks keramikos - as always! Thanks to you too AnythingObscure! it's actually really thick and heavy so not fragile. i have 4 or 5 ceramic crock covers - different kinds.

      ho2cultcha, No prob. :-)

I was surprised to find that business, but judging from their "About Us" description, they're kind of a revival (2005).

I suppose there are still enough people who want to make things like home-made sauerkraut, and crock pickles. };-)

well that was a surprise keramikos, but you are absolutely right, as usual!
