    What have I got here? I was told that it's an old oil can, wood encased. The size is 18" tall by 12" by 9". The make looks like "Burnham Taite & son" and the date is Nov. 27 1883. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

      Burnham & Taite were druggists according to my google search so I don't know what this would have held the link I'm sending you is hard to read but your info starts at the bottom of column 1 page 366 and goes to the top of column 2...

      to find this info I copied and pasted from your description (Burnham Taite & son) and I put that into google and found what I share here.. It only took a little while..
