    The cardboard tube with tin lid says there's supposed to be 31 pieces (I didn't count 'em) in multi colors and a black one. I suppose if you read the instructions and play the game (I didn't do those either) the single black stick prolly makes sense. :-)

      As I vaguely recall from loving this game as a child, the black stick is used to pick up the other sticks.
      I only got to play it during recess at school because some other child brought them.
      I still have 2 good eyes because my parents would not buy these for me….I really, really pleaded ….to no avail.
