The Ausführung 226 belongs to a group of glasses that revived the iridescence process of the early years of Art Nouveau in the 1920s. It was produced in different basic colors, for example camellia red, lemon yellow, metallic yellow, may green, imperial red, light blue, thea, mandarin and orange. The lower part of the vessels consists mostly of black glass that was applied to the pieces in a wave-like manner, with a papilon decoration on top, which was often iridescent in different reflection zones. The different colors of the lower overlay were probably made according to the wishes of the respective customer. In the book "Lötz" (Ricke) there is a nice example in camellia red on page 304, there the lower overlay is made of dark red glass, the iris on the foot and the body also has a different color. The basic design of the decor of version 226 corresponds to version 165 from 1916, the black surfaces were provided with a Papillon decor and the parts were iridescent instead of painting. See the comparison in the photo.

    Seen here:
Design 1925, PN III 1838, Ausführung 226, colorless glass with red underlay, partial overlay that is warped black from below to form waves, this is sprinkled with silver-yellow crumbs, iridescent in two reflective levels. The execution in imperial red is not so common. H. 18 cm
Dessign 1916/17,  PN III 856 (Form Powolny), version 226 camelia red with black. H. 14.1 cm

H. 18 cm
Entwurf 1916/17, PN III 856 (Form Powolny) Ausführung 226 camelienrot mit schwarz. H. 14,1 cm

All beautiful examples of Ausf 226. Your Imperial-red example is especially nice and quite rare.
