Pretty nice hat made of stiff fur felt, it seems. No liner nor makers mark. Has the XX things on inner/outer brim. No idea what those are for. Crown is 5 inches and the brim is also 5 inches, all around.. Its big, as you can see. Have any of you hat people seen this before? Would appreciate any input. Thanks

Is the “X” thing in just one place or are there “Xs” on R and L sides of hat?
The Xs on on both sides of the hat, underneath. I wonder if this a Guido Sarducci kind of hat.....
I remember Guido….comedian priest character …very funny.
I don’t think an actual priest’s hat would have any kind of embellishment.
My only direct observation of a priest’s hat is from watching the tv show, “Father Brown”….so, that tells you I’m no expert. :^)
I don't think that the X things ARE an embellishment, but rather something practical. They go all the way thru the brim to the top of the brim. I cannot imagine what, though. Perhaps to attach a chin strap? or ???
Thanks for trying, though. This CAN'T be the only one of these ever made, so somebody somewhere knows what it is. It's just finding that person. I thought maybe here, but it isn't looking like it, at present (no disrespect meant). Cheers
