Mystery Knife! I have never seen a knife with shape blade. I thought it had been ground down, but close inspection shows that it is unaltered. No markings on blade or handle. Any ideas??

Try to search "Vintage, 5 pin buffalo skinner knife". I found some look a likes, Except, for the thin tapering blade as yours has near the handle(Scales). Maybe Dexter, Russel, Green River.......????

Does it make sense that the unusual shape come from excessive use? The Narrow part of the blade possibly started out almost as wide as the handle and was worn down with sharpening?

Thanks for the responses! It does have the same basic curve of the buffalo skinner knife - closest thing I’ve seen yet. When I first saw the note, I had assumed it was that type of knife and just had been ground down and re-sharpened over time. If that’s the case, it was professionally done, as the honed edge/choil is perfect all the way to the handle on both sides. Really is a quality edge.
Consider the possibility of one man (or woman) repeatly sharpening the same knife several hundreds times the same way would use the same angle over Andover?
That seems to be the most logical explanation. If so, they must have used a device that allowed for maintaining the exact same angle. The shape of the blade is precisely accurate on both sides, as well as the honed edge of the blade.
That's a Bolo style knife. Originated in the Philippines.
