This incalmo (fused) bullicante (controlled bubble) ashtray is about 6" in diameter 2.5" high and is ground flat and polished on the bottom. No label or other marks. There is quite a bit of wear to the bottom. While the exterior is completely smooth, I can feel a depression where the blue and yellow glass meet in the interior. This means that the controlled bubble section was fused to the blue glass using a technique called incalmo before it was formed into its final form. There is also a touch of amber in the very center of the ashtray.

While researching my recent GF Murano bowl I decided to take a look and see if I could find any other cheap, maybe Italian piece of glass. I saw a few pieces with this color combination during my recent research so it seemed like a good opportunity to learn a bit more about Italian glass while researching it. Based on the incalmo and bullicante my assumption is that it is Italian, but just a guess on my part.
After some further research, I think this was made by Galliano Ferro..

I love controlled bubbles on this blueish, yellow one, smart move, classy piece for an ashtray which is important especially if you use it !~

I found more information about the technique used in creating this piece. Incalmo, or fusing two pieces together was used.

this is a biomorph and this IMO a very well biomorph, it probably is an Gallioni Ferro, it,s i think it is a known colorcobination
but the more significant determination is IMO it was one of the view factories who used bullicantes without back of forward swirling
it is a very pleasant combination not to harsh , the blue on the reverse side is congruent
and the labia lets say the biomorph part although there is difference in the layer density ( photo 3/4 up left) vertical tranversal is almost completely congruent
it is a bit outcentered at all slopewise up, but that,s no problem at all
very nice , congrats yoy have done well
Thanks for your analysis! I appreciate it! I know so little about Italian glass and there is so much to learn that I hesitate to take on the challenge! I can, however, recognize quality even if I do not know what else I am looking at!
