This 2"W crested bird on branch goldtone brooch has the summery pastel enamel colors peach, yellow and green, with one rhinestone eye. By Alice Caviness with name in cartouche on back, ca 1970s

This little bird is so beautiful!! Great colors!
Gorgeous little bird, colour is perfectly neutral and soft, lots of bird brooches are very bright but this is far more muted and plainer which is perferct- reminds me of tones you'd see on vintage wallpaper and .. maybe the bird is like a vintage wallpaper pattern too...?! :)
The enameling is superb, classic !~

Thank you so much Scott for your wonderful compliments for this bird, I thought the subtle pastels were lovely for summertime wear. Many times animal pins have brightly colored enamel so it was a treat to find this understated beauty
Lauren you're absolutely right the colors are muted and soft, to me it sort of has an Asian bird appearance. Again your perceptiveness is amazing, this birdie would be right at home in a lovely wallpaper pattern! I actually get a lot of home decor magazines and it seems the trend today is wallpaper with birds or other animals in foliate or jungle like backgrounds which is really beautiful. Thank you Phil for your terrific comment and agree this bird has a classic elegance, Alice Caviness always loved enamels but usually brighter, this bird has her great style but with the perfect palette of soft colors for this time of year
