I have posted before pieces by Takeshi and Youko Sano, the very creative and skilled glass artists working in Toyama.
I have wanted one of Takeshi's mosaic glass vases for quite a while and was happy when this was advertised as artist unknown, so a slightly better price than usual.
I knew immediately who had made it as his style is very distinctive, and fortunately it is also signed.
This small vase, 15 cm, has a lot in it.
The glass pieces have been made, cut to size, remelted and then worked into the vase shape. The surface of the vase has also been textured, and the result is a piece that is extremely lovely to hold and also uses light in a special way.
It is very Japanese I think: very complex but is such a subtle way it is restful in simplicity.

Thanks Jenni, you have nailed it

Marin melange is a lovely word. I will apply it forthwith

Apostsa thank you for trying to read the kanji
I have no doubt it is a Taeshi Sano piece. His work is extremely distinctive and the signature is identical to another piece of his I have that came with documents
      I always value your feedback

      Many thanks Kevin

Ta Inky, we all love a (relative) bargain and I agree it is a beauty, so win win
