    (399 items)

Was in the Sallies Friday lunchtime and saw these, thought to myself "yuk plated junk with almost no silver left" but then noticed the 2 little spoons and picked them up as maybe I could use then in some of the small glass items I have, the price was only $6 for the pair so off I went to the counter.
While waiting to be served I noticed they had hall marks and one was a lion.......mmm might actually be silver.
Well yesterday I spent about 4 hours with the Silvo rubbing the hell out of these (and my poor fingers, boy did I have cramp in my right hand later!!) and although not perfect yet the more rubbing the shiner they got.
They hallmarks were a shield with G.N over R.H for George Nathan & Ridley Hayes of Birmingham England, a left facing lion for the sterling silver mark, 3 sheaves of wheat & a sword for the Chester Assay House and a M for 1895.
I tried taking a photo of the hallmarks but I should have done it before polishing, all I got was reflections.
There is a glass component as the small vessels inside are cobalt blue glass. 8cm long and 4cm high.

I never had these really or any much dining silver at all. I wish I had seeing some of the old trophies/bowls and such. Highly desirable set, and my envy button just popped on at seeing these gorgeous beautes !~
