I am always on the lookout for something different in art glass, & this pair of vases fit the bill perfectly.
Luckily I was the sole bidder on these on eBay AU, & they came to me from the other side of the country, Western Australia.
Both vases measure 18.5 cm tall, 3.7 cm across the top rim, & 7.5 cm across the base.
Made from three layers of cased glass, the outer layer is a translucent green over a striking zigzag decor of red, orange, green, & white. There is a touch of green aventurine glittering away amid all those colours as well! The interior layer is a stunning & unusual shade of vermilion red. The pattern reminds me of fabric designs by Missoni. Rather psychedelic, too.
The vases have metal fittings on the top rims which are in poor condition, they almost look melted. No idea what has happened to them! But the vases themselves are in excellent condition.
I'm aware that this is quite a rare decor, & that it is sometimes attributed to Rindskopf, among others.
I guess these are circa 1900 or so.
I feel very fortunate to have them in my collection, they are simply magical...I mean, just look at those spiral swirls of green on the base!

Those are cool. They reminded me of when I was a kid, you used to see bottles filled with different colored sand and they would have patterns like this
Nice pieces. Congratulations. I'm moving a bit with my opinion on the manufacturer. I believe it was made by a glass factory from the Teplice area, but rather than Rindskopf (which I'm not ruling out yet), I'm leaning towards Steinwald. I don't rule out Tomschick or Brüder Frankl either.
Fantastic pieces, although you may think it a bit silly but I actually like the base pattern the most.
So nothing left of the hallmarks on the silver rims?

Sadly, the metal tops are so badly damaged that there is no longer any sign of a hallmark. Heaven knows what happened to them...but at least the glass is in mint condition!
