Here is a 5"W cobalt blue glass mallard duck with handpainted flower & leaf accents by artist M. Kibbe for Fenton Glass. The mallard is item #5147, originally designed in clear crystal in the 80s, as seen in book Glass Animals & Figurines by Coe

The painting has an etched glass quality to it. Love the blue as well. Great find !

Really nice colour on this duck, the deep royal blue tones are always my favourite. Especially with the lovely delicate pastel and lilac flowers, they look so well on him! :)

DejaVu thank you for your two great compliment/comments. Firstly I agree about the artist's painting on back of this duck it's quite beautiful. Deleting posts is entirely a member's choice, I prefer to keep mine so other people (even just visitors to CW) can learn, refer to or just enjoy them
Thank you Mike for your super praise for this Fenton mallard, it's really a lovely item and the cobalt blue & painted accent enhances its beauty (I rarely post the clear glass versions of an animal, as to me they're rather bland both in photography and in noticing the sculpting on the bodies). You're right that it seems to have an etched glass look, sort of resembles a water lily to me

Thanks so much Phil for your wonderful praise for this mallard, I'm always impressed with the Fenton artists talent & this time the duck's back was a nice smooth canvas as most of their animals are curved more. Love that deep blue as well
Lauren thank you for your awesome comment & praise, totally agree about the color and I was really impressed with that unique painted floral design. Fenton made several versions of this mallard incl. plain or painted transparent colored glass, and painted opaque glass, all were beautiful but this guy was a standout I loved him the most
