Old Broken Pottery - I found these several years ago in a cardboard box, in the basement of a house in Mill Valley, Marin County, California. Along with it was a collection of rocks, driftwood, and sea urchin, (sand dollar), fossils. These later items are all common locally. The pottery and what looks like bones or handles are not a common find. I'm guessing they were dug up at one of the Native American Coast Miwok sites here in the county. I say this because the pottery was treated the same as the rest of the collection, i.e. loose in a box, not cleaned, wrapped, or carefully packaged. The shards are thick and thin, rounded, and have lines, (finger lines?), on the inside. I'm not an expert and haven't tried to match or reconstruct pieces. It's a mystery to me.
