      It's an aztec ocarina. A type of flute. Whether it's pre-columbian or a souvenir I can't tell. Where did you get it?

      Found them in a drawer of an antique desk. I am also trying to identify the desk, will post pics soon. So how old do you think they are? I have 2 of them, 1 large, 1 small...

      How would I tell if it is a souvenir or the real thing?

      hard to tell. Many are made today much in the same way as they were made in the past. Maybe a museum could help you.
      In any case, it would be an expensive souvenir. Most cheap imitations are made of pottery.
