Back in the 70's I worked in the transplant and tissue bank field. In essence, we deconstructed the deceased so we could recycle organs and tissues for kidney, liver, and heart transplants. Long bones were used for orthopedic procedure, spine sections for spinal fusion, skin for burn patients, eyes for corneal transplant.... and on and on. This wire art - while Frankenstein'ish - has always reminded me of our efforts to save lives or improve the quality of life for thousands of patients.
It reminds me of the coffee tables made by Giacommetti if I am correct. I would love to know the history on these little guys !~
I came across this 40+ years ago and it resonated with what I was involved with at the time. I have no history and would also like to know what was going through the artists mind.
