Milwaukee Sentinel Captain's Badge.
An early circa 1890-1910 Milwaukee Sentinel badge with the rank of Captain made by Schwaab. Not sure what a Captain did. My guess is that he was in charge of all the pickup stations in a district where the newspaper carriers would pick up their allotment of papers for their routes. The number 3 must have been the district number. The Sentinel was Milwaukee's morning paper which required the news boy carriers to start their routes at 5 am.
