This is a photo of a WWI solider that I found in my family photos. I don't know who this is though. Is there anything about this photo that could potentially help me ID it? Please Help...

He looked liked the old guy posted in the other grouping-- maybe a son or grandson?

That is what I was thinking. The reason I am leaning toward this side of my family is because I have a TON of photos on this side, and not as many on any other side.

I am guessing its PRE WWI. Looks like cavalry (crossed swords) collar disc, and I think that it is PRE WWI because the buttons on the tunic look like RIMLESS eagle buttons, and a 1912 style wool tunic. This tunic WAS worn up to WWI, but by then most tunics had rimmed eagle buttons....

Do you think it would be a Spanish-American War Soldier? Is that too early for this particualar uniform? The family that I think it is would have had someone either too old or too young to be in WWI, so it must by prior.

No, it is NOT Spanish-American war. Different Uniforms all together. This is 100% pre WWI era, from between 1912 and could be as late as 1918. The soldier is wearing a model 1912 wool Army tunic (jacket) There were some slight changes to the jacket in 1917, and again in late 1918. By early 1920s they went to polished brass buttons and insignia. In 1926, they went with an open collar tunic (like what the army has today) So perhaps do some more dingging in the family history. If it were PRE 1912, the uniform pockets would be different, and so would the collar.......If it were Spanish American War era, it would be a BLUE wool tunic......Its a great photo....

This particular AZO backmark was prominant from about 1910- 1930.
