I recently spent 6 weeks in the Arctic for work and spent a few days in Sachs Harbour. While metal detecting along the beach I found this Primus Stove part about 9 inches down in the sand. I'm just posting this hoping somene might have more info as to which year/model stove it belongs to...assuming that the part isn't universal. I was mostly curious because I found it about 2 miles from where the ship "Mary Sachs" was grounded in 1914 and through some research I found that the ship carried Primus Stoves.

The top reads Primus Sweden and there are two differnt numbers on either side of the nut above the threads which are 25 & 26.

Anyway...it was a cool little find...I'd just like to figure out how old it is.

The Mary Sachs was owned by my great great uncle Captain Peter Bernard. Capt. Bernard died at the northern end of Banks Island on the Canadian Arctic Expedition of 1913-1916 - his body never to be found. Two of my cousins and myself are going there to lay a monument for him in 2013. Great to see that you actually have a part of the ship. There is a great history to the ship - as the town is named after the ship. Take care.

This piece is identical to the burner on an Optimus No. 1 stove that I recently bought at a thrift store. I suspected it could be old, and potentially used for expedition work, since the incised lettering on the side is in Swedish, English, French, Italian, German, Russian and Greek . I never expected it could potentially be that old or be used for such ambitious expeditions!
