      I think it is a Cash coin from China.

      I have a coin almost identical to this but has only the square hole and has a (1) stamped on each side of the hole on each side of the coin. I can read "Tax Commission Mississippi at the top with "Tax Token" at the bottom. Could these have been made during one of the wars?

      I would also say Chinese.

      It may be Japanese. My dad was in WWII in Iwa Jima and had a smaller one in his collection when he passed. Check ebay for similar ones.
