This is an original WWI Poster for War Stamps from 1918...It features General John "Blackjack" Pershing....I t is in really good condition. It says copyright 1918 by American Lithographic co.
John Joseph "Black Jack" Pershing, GCB (Hon) (September 13, 1860 – July 15, 1948), was a general officer in the United States Army who led the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I. Pershing is the only person to be promoted in his own lifetime to the highest rank ever held in the United States Army—General of the Armies (a retroactive Congressional edict passed in 1976 promoted George Washington to the same rank but with higher seniority[1]). Pershing holds the first United States officer service number (O-1). He was regarded as a mentor by the generation of American generals who led the United States Army in Europe during World War II, including George C. Marshall, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Omar N. Bradley, and George S. Patton.

Great poster and facts about Pershing.

You sparked my interest and I just did some reading on "General of the Army"-- Grant, Sherman and Sheridan (Post Civil War) and Marshall, MacArthur, Eisenhower, Arnold, and Bradley (WW2) vs. "General of the Armies".

Do you have other WW1 posters?

Scott, Thank you for your interest...Do you have a collection of WWI posters? That is the only one I have left .....I have some WWI books that I will put on show & tell though...I kept this WWI Poster because I loved it the most and if you read up on Pershing he had a terrible family life...Heartbreaking. Have a great day.

      Marge-- I have about 15- 20 WW1 posters.

Like everything else, I pick them up when I can get them at reasonable prices!

      Thanks again for sharing,
