The beakvase or"duckling" receives it's name from the shape on its top, resembling a duck's beak.

Though I didn't like them much at first -and i missed buying all of them pretty cheaply when I started collecting Holmegaard-I know find they are lovely vases.

Theregular ones -the ones I've got- came in three sizes: around 25, 18 and 15 cm) but Lütken created a lot of them in different sizes -the biggest one I've seen stands 43 cm. tall- and shapes -there's a few "fat ducklings" around. As for colours, they came in clear, akva and gray, but also in green, safir blue and oliven.

I have seen a really huge one here in Sydney about ten years ago! I remember it as being as big as my big drop vase. I thought a bit bigger; it must have been the 45cm version. It was too much for me at $1200 at that time. The Sydney Antique Market.

By the way I've just been going through Lutken's unnamed pieces at hardernet.dk and I saw a piece similar to one I have. A mystery vase: Vase, hvidt glas m/streg slibning. I'll take some photos tomorrow. 1944!!

I was just about to buy a 41 cm. tall for only 120 euros... but someone was faster than me :(

Yes, please, I want to see that 1944 Lütken! :)

I've had another look this morning and have decided it's still a mystery. The ribbing in this vase of mine is within the glass, Lutken's was engraved. I'm recharging batteries now and will post the thing later as an unidentified stable object.
