Hi folks I haven't posted in a very long time dealing with a variety of things I won't go into that don't relate.
I recently came across a very nice and well made lighter, petrol and is 950 sterling silver heavy!!! the wheel was seized up on it and I knew the problem so I quickly bought it up for nothing compared to silver prices, what I need to know is I use to send my lighters off to ARS but they were reluctant to repair it as it was not one they were familiar with but is identical to a Dunhill but looks to be as well made if not better, which surprised me, it's a old one and in such good shape, I have to get it fixed, as far as I know it needs a wick, I don't work on them and won't when they are high end. So pull out the wadding and snake a new wick, is it easy to do??? Thanks. Blessings B.
I forgot to mention although I have never heard of this name it dose ring a bell in my head, I can't put my finger on it but more then likly it is made in Japan or China, I wouldn't be surprised as many fakes that come out of the two countries, I bought one of the fake Dupont's although it looks very nice and is heavier then the true blue, it stopped working two weeks after I got it FYI.

There are tres bien lighters on the French version of ebay but I sure as heck can't read it.
Replacing a wick is pretty easy, I do it on Zippo's. Go around the packing with a thin (very thin) knife blade in case it is stuck to the metal. Go slow and work the packing out. Tweezers or a hemostat can be helpful. You will see the hole for the wick once the packing is removed. A good size sewing needle will clean the hole and also help you get the new wick through the hole. I use the dull end of a large needle to poke it through. Then pull it with tweezers to get it where I want it. Pretty easy operation. You might want to try on an old lighter first for a trial run. Good luck.

The wicks are standard.....however yours is probably metric dimension. Any tobacco shop should have wicks but you should specify that it is a foreign made lighter. If you are brave, wet the wick first with lighter fluid and it will go in easier. Just don't do it near an open flame and don't smoke while doing the surgery.
