    Would like any info on what this could be. The center is a working compass. The shaft when pushed retracts the pointed end inside which has a hole that seems to be the same diameter of pencil lead. Everything is surrounnded by what looks like a buckeye seed.

      Definitely an old pencil . What a combination. I think it would look odd hanging on a chatelaine .
