My husband and I are garage sale junkies and last week we found this doll. I do not collect dolls and until this one nor did he. It was funny he asked me" if I was going to pop on her" as if she was the missing link to a collection. I said" I'm not interested" and went about my search. I paid for the things I did find and as I walked to the car I overheard him asking "how much is the doll? I want to buy it for my wife" The guy must have overheard us before because he says to my husband"your wife huh?you can have her for $5." So now my husband is a doll collector maybe I can get him into fashion too! I'm just teasing him. But he did get this doll and we have no clue about her so if anyone could help with any info that would be great thank you.

She reminds me of a Carmen Miranda doll. Carmen Miranda dressed with crazy outfits and hairpieces of flowers and fruits. But I don't know if she played the guitar.

She is a spanish flamenco dancer doll, 'Marin Chiclana' brand.

This doll is a Marin Flamenco dancer doll, made in Chiclana Spain. Chiclana is a town in south west Spain. The company still making dolls, their most valuable dolls are the historical dolls or sigle dolls representing the royal families of Europe. If you go to the internet and type "Marin dolls Spain" you will get all kinds of information on this maker. I hope this help.

I think she is very pretty myself.. I have one that looks like her, made of cloth. Is yours? I also wanted to say thank you for admiring my lamp.

Your lamp is awesome! The doll is a hard plastic but I think I know the kind of doll your talking about made of cloth. My doll is 25 inches tall. I have convinced my husband to let me sell her I do not collect dolls and she takes up to much space. Thanks for comment and happy hunting!

Here is a list of these dolls for sale on eBay. It does look like it's a modern Marin Flamenco doll.

I cringe at the thought of another one.....LOL! I tried to find her a new home at a family members garage sale this summer, the old man snuck her back!

Thanks Vestawind for the link. Since your tip on the poodle turned out to be soooooooooooo great (made a killing) I had hoped maybe she was in the same league. Oh well I guess he can keep her. At least for now.

Glad you made a killing on the poodle, huge collectable. Now study up on Blythe and find the Holy Grail of modern collectable dolls!

      Yuck...Blythe...blec...lol

Your spanish doll is, as you said a Marin doll.
Marin doll factory was founded in Chiclana, Cadiz, Spain, by Pepe Marin, in 1928.
All Marin dolls are hand painted, hair is also brushed and combed by hand by expert artisans. The factory is run by the founder's daughter, Ana Marin, who is also the designer of the new models.

I believe yours may be late 80s, but that is just my gut feeling.

You may not like Blythe but I turned over a buck doll to nearly a grand. No one said you had to keep the thing!

I guess I will have to keep my eyes peeled...
