Just wanting any info on this, win it was made and maybe where it was made at? thank you. I was out metal detecting in an old civil war camp sight in my uncles back yard. I don’t think it is from that area but the craftsmanship I just love. I am an artist and a photographer so stuff like this is just wonderful.

Maybe a Gone with the Wind?

You are an artist, painter on canvas? Or you create jewelry, may I ask?

You may know all of this already, but had to reply if you were still wondering:

I am 99.9% sure that this item that you have is referred to as a "sash pin". And, I am only knowledgeable on the topic because I have a very similar pin. Mine is in rough shape - patina galore, and it only has the c clasp on the back and nothing else related to a pin. However, mine is in it's natural aged state, which really matters with vintage/antique jewelry - yours looks to be in the same state, as well. I wish I had a picture(s) uploaded right now, but I do not. If you want to see what mine looks like, I will upload a picture and TRY to attach it to this post later today - LMK if you would be interested.

Internet education tells me that sash pins were made/worn in the late 1800's until about 1910. Mine is said to be closer to the 1890 period, but regardless of the date on yours, you surely have an antique piece of jewelry on your hands that should exceed the 100 year mark!!

Considering the time period (late 1800's to 1910's) in which these were worn, the pin can either be considered Late Victorian or Edwardian - depending on where it's dating falls in that rough 20 year period.

To begin educating yourself on the topic, I would simply start at Morning Glory, as there are lots of pictures there and good information. Website is:
      http://www.morninggloryantiques.com/collectSash.html

Hope this helped a bit. I see that you want to keep yours. Biting my cheeks - I would like to sell mine, but finding a dealer, etc - I would not know where to begin with a true antique like this!!! Any reader with input on that, I would love any info. I sell my own handmade jewelry on Etsy, and also vintage pieces. However, this seems too delicate and specialized to put on Etsy - but maybe I am wrong?

Jodi thank you very much I was still looking for some info, I hade a jeweler tell me it might have been made in the 1890 to 1900 and he was trying to buy mine for $ 150. But win I told him I was not interested in sealing it he offered a lot more, so I am not sure what it is really worth, I have not sold mine but if the price is right I will, thank you so much for posting and yes I am very interested in seeing yours.

I bookmarked the site in which I saw the images of these for the first time and the style, size, etc. was just too close to that "old piece of metal" that I was hanging onto. I will post those bookmarked pages below. I believe this website indicates that the dealer is not interested in buying pieces - or I would contact them to discuss finding a potential buyer. These two are sold - so the price does not show, but I believe they had these listed on this site for about $600 each. Here are the links. And, I will post a pic of mine later.

These are in GREAT condition compared to others I have seen. Wondering if they could be Reproductions, perhaps? Anyway - this is what got my attention, and then I began to research further. But, mine is still here at my home - no idea, really, what I am going to do with it - but I LOVE having it and that it is a true antique is super cool!

The 2nd URL did not work - I see. Try this:
