Here is another find of mine that it seems some of you may enjoy. It was worn by an American soldier of Polish decent from Hamtramck, MI, on D-Day and through World War II.
This is a very rare "scarce" helmet with the Hawley Liner that is worth a great deal financially and historically being the first type of helmets of this kind in World War II. The M-1 helmet was introduced in 1941. The early versions of the helmet had a fixed bail. Later on it was found out that the failure rate in such design was greater because the force exerted on the bail when the soldier was running was too much and would cause the bail to break.
These types of items can typically be from $600.00--$800.00 or more if provenance is also a part of the collectable. Take care my friends and have a blessed day! : )
