    Both of these vases are over 12" tall and 25" round the fattest part of the glass. Any idea of the maker ? How do you find the worth of them? Told Murano or Italian but not sure

      These are more than likely Venetian and dating from around the 1950s or so. What happens is that the glass master starts with a clear glass blob, then rolls it in an oxide that will give him the colour he wants. When they glass piece is roughly the desired dimensions, it is pressed into a steel mold which gives you the pattern you see here - this is referred to as an OPTIC LATTICE work effect. The glass is then removed from the mold and blown again until you reach the desired shape above. The foot rim and stem is then applied. You might not think that pressing glass into a mold is s a difficult thing to do, but I can assure you, it takes an amazing amount of skill honed over years of working with glass to get this effect just right

      Hi Dean!

      Thank You for responding to my request as I have about 8 of them and have enjoyed the patterns they give off when the sun does come out here in Washington State.

      I have searched but never found any answers, now finally I know everything about the process of bringing them to life. Makes one appreciate them with a new respect. Being of Italian heritage it has intrigue me more than I can say. My grandparents are both gone as I know they would have been able to guide me as they both came from Italy and both had a love of glass.

      Again, Thank You very much you will never know what it means to me.
