I certainly don't know what to make of this. Mum had this on her nick-knack shelf forever. It has a nice ring to it and I can't make out any particular shapes in the design but it's beautiful. I has the same "CHINA" engraving inside the gong as did her brass bowl and plate so I think it came from the same place and time period. My sister says it comes from "closed China". I'd like to know more about this item and the time period in which it was produced.
