This is an Alaskan Yupik or Inuit miniature basket, made around 1935. It is only a couple inches tall and maybe an inch in diameter at the top where it is the widest. This was made of sea grasses and the colors are still vibrant pinks and purples and blues and yellows. It must have taken a very long time to make this, the weave is so tiny you need a magnifying glass to see them. It would have to be a master weaver to be able to make something so small, yet have it look like the larger examples of the baskets that are woven. I have this placed with my other Native American miniature baskets.
The last pic is with a tube of lip balm so you can get an idea of the size of this basket. Enjoy the pics :)
