It's a nice silver plated sugar sifter.
      Caster sugar sifted over strawberries!
      Yum!
The marks indicate silver plate not sterling.
EP = electroplate. A1 Quality plate.

because I now do not have it. You never know where emails end up and not get to you!

I will try to mention your expert words to the new owner, if I can find her and/or him.

How old do you think it is?

      Oh, what's the S for?

      Some silver on that one?
    4. vetraio50 vetraio50, 12 years ago
Ni Ben I believe the 'S' is for 'silver' and the 'EP' for 'electro-plate'.
    5. Benking, 12 years ago
So the S is for silver, you say?

The Gothic "S" represents the assay mark, for Sheffield, England. Below, is a great resource, for identifying hallmarks, for English silver plate / electroplate on nickel silver.

Stainedglass is correct Benking. The spoon is plated silver. The S will be for Sheffield.

      Oh, thanks stainedgalss and vetraio!!

I appreciate very much that information.

      Shefield, wow!

I wonder if any mark tells the age, the year?
