I found this very old litho(?-etching?print?)in the same little store behind the Notre Dame in Paris that was filled with incredible old lithographs, I wanted to buy them all, but got three, the one I have posted, the Canto #5 Dante's "Unfortunate Love of Paolo and Francesca", and will pos the third, the"Satanella Valse". This translates the "World in Reverse", and is very humorous. If you look closely everything is opposite from how it should be, the chair is on the man, the fish is fishing for humans, the dog is teachng the humans tricks, it is very funny. I have no idea about what it is , how old it is, where it hails from, and even if it is Spanish, Catalan, Occitan or Mallorquin. There are certain words that don't seem like normal Spanish to me. Can anyone tell me about this piece?? Thank you, Michelle

MiKKo, after twi ectopic pregnancies in my early 20.s, I knew I would not have kids, but instead decidid to travel. I have many more cultural "treasures" I would love to post but the real world keeps intruding on my new CW world. If I did have a flat tire, I would probably bring home some strange souvenir of it!! I have always been a tomboy and didn't do shoes, clothes , make-up, hair, and all my "disposable income" went to art. You should see the things I've already parted with in my life, I have some regrets, but at the moment, it seemed more important to give them as gifts, the one piece I regret most giving away was my "elephant license plate" from Ceylon or somewhere in India!! Ouch, parting can be such sweet sorrow!! Thank you for the love Mich p.s. I do tryto accompany the objects with their stories!!
Hey michelleamieux, I have to say that I enjoy all of your items you post. It is interesting to see what you will find next ! I especially like the way you tell the story with your items. It seems like some people will just post, and you don't ever know anything about the item. I always try and tell something about my post, sometimes I think too much ! Plase call me Mich, TG. I was born in Dublin, Ireland of french father and irish Mother. We came to California at three months. My Mom was born in the US, but her parents were immigrants and she had moved back to hang out after college in Europe, and met my Dad. I lived in the States through my Junior year of college, then moved to first olland for a year, France for 7 years, and Mallorca(Deia), Spain for 3 years. Then my Grandma got sick so I flew back to La Jolla where I stayed till her passing. I was basically overseas for the whole of the eighties and some. Loved the experience. TG, I wish I had been in one place. As it was, the family was always scattered on different countries, US, Ireland, France and Spain, which made it hard to spend time together. As kids we just followed the tides... Mich
At one point I had to have emergency surgery in the high mountains of France and my Mom was in Russia, my Dad sick in Africa with Malaria,(which he had contracted years before there), Grandma in America and Twin Bro in Holland. I was not a happy camper, as I had not learned French yet...I should mention, my Dad was pied noir, so they were the French colonists in North Africa. I found out at thirty that his Mom had been adopted and that she was, in fact, a Spanish Moor. Isabelle and Ferdinand chased all the "Arab" ie:Moors out of Spain in 1492. So there are large populations of Spanish descendants in Algeria and morocco. My Great Grandparents were from ZOran and Tunis and were named Therese Vidal and Juan Roccamora. The French were kicked out in '59, from Morocco, and '61 from Algeria, which is the year I was born and is a whole different story of how that war separated my Mom and Dad.. I'm reminiscing!! The funny part about the story is that, apart my Godfather, and my Grandparents... my family was always poor, after I turned 12. All those travels were paid for by sweat, not money, many grapes and cherries picked!!Mich
“El Mundo Al Reves” in Spanish (“The World Upside Down”) depicts different little scenes of interactions between animals and humans. Except, just as the title suggests, the roles were reversed.
