    (304 items)

We hit a local annual area wide garage sale event this weekend. There was around 75 sales to hit & after all the baby clothes drive-by sales we probably hit around 30. I found a few interesting things all being items I'm not very familiar with. Like this guy, he is a nice size of 21 inches head to toes. Jointed arms, legs & head. I think his eyes have been repaired w/buttons. His body is stiff & hard, is it straw or sand or??? Is he hand made or factory? Is he from the U.S.A or maybe Germany??? If anyone could help me with any info that would be great. Thanks for looking.

      Hi vintage
What are the bears pads made of can you tell ? have they been repaired ?

Hi Mani, I'm not sure what the pads are made of but they feel like the material you find on antique furniture, like a velvet? I don't think hes had repairs on the pads, the feet are in really nice condition compared to his hands. The arm pads are worn down to his base material.

Vintage his red mouth has me as that is not usually seen or should I say red tonque . If they had a tonque it was usually out of felt . I think his paws are velveteen which puts him into late 30's to 50's . I am sure his eyes are replaced and I suspect they were plastic the kind tha had black in center that made them move . Those were just glued on and lost . Not to say the safety of a child swallowing them . Chad valley did velveteen pads as well as I am thinking a early carnival bear . He is factory made . Sorry I can't give exact maker without correct eyes it makes it hard . He is A beautiful old mohair bear that is 100% just not sure on maker :-( I love him

Thank you so much Mani, the red is so bright I figure that it may be a add on. Perhaps when his eyes were mended? I really appreciate your input:) One more question for you-What would you think he is stuffed with? Thanks again.

If he is hard like you say if straw you can almost feel it crunch, sand would shift does is move . I would think maybe kapok if not straw ? Depending on how how it feels when squeezed . Kapok would press in a bit and is heavier than straw . Does it feel crunchy ?

Yes he is crunchy, thank you again for your help:) Now I need to find him a proper home that can love & take care of him properly.
      Always a pleasure, Nik.
