I have many unusual pieces from an estate collection. This piece is very heavy and ornate. Can anyone help identify this?

Mystery Solved

You are absolutley correct! I did a google search from your post, and the images are there! I will need to do further research before posting it on ebay, since doing a quick look, the prices vary from $35.00 to $3,400. I've had this for years and was not able to identify it! Thank you so so much!

The ones that are worth thousands are made from precious metals, the green oxidation on yours makes me think it is made of something else. Try checking the rim for any stamps, words, or markings which might identify what it's made of and who made it. It appears to be a higher class, perhaps 3rd? There are a dozen versions of this award so it is important to nail down exactly which it is.

Very cool, what else was in this estate if they had something like this?

My mother and I owned a Consignment Shop in Fort Lee, NJ for 15 years which we recently closed. I am not sure exactly what other pieces came from this estate. I don't think I have anything else that seemed as unique as this. I have a lot of collectible estate jewelry, mostly Lisner, Coro and Trifari, as well as a very large vintage perfume bottle collection. Lots of fun stuff, like old pin-up playing cards, lighters, matches, fountain pens, compacts, etc. I have lots of vintage clothing as well. I would love to take pictures and share, there is just not enough time to photograph or post on ebay. I am happy to have found this site and appreciate your help in identifying. I will look closely at the other medals listed and try to see the order, as you have mentioned. From looking at the other medals, I've seen a difference in the crown on the top. This one is squared, and some pictured were rounded. This has a Lion Crest, which probably means the class as you mentioned. Such Fun! Thank you all very much!

Also, the green is not oxidation, it is painted or enamel. That is on one side, the other is just all gold toned. The pin that holds the crown in place is loose on one side as well. There is also a chip on the white enamel on the top.
