I just purchased this pen this during the week of 5-14-2012. I picked it up from a very dear friend never intending on buying a pen as I was maxed out on my pen budget. But David and I are pretty close friends and he made me an offer on not one, mind you, but two pens that I could not refuse. These are pens that could easily go in to the Collector's side of my pen collection cabnet vs. the user's side. That is how I group my pens. When they are in the Collector's side they don't get inked or dipped, they just sit there and gawked at. The other side is the user side, and that side is where they go into a rotation with other pens and get used every day. I currently have approximately 12 pens inked up right now.
The interesting thing about this Fountain Pen, is that the Sterling Silver Clip is meant to represent the 1992 America's Cup Challenger ll Moro di Venezia riding a wave. The clip was designed by Visconti specifically for the sailors of that great sailboat. The Italian Challenger did not win the America's Cup in 1992, but the clip design was authorized for use on later pens such as the Voyager and Uffizi series.
