The Jolly Chimp is a classic toy and image in pop culture. I believe this is a later model, 1970's, the distinction being the CK marking rather than Daishin CK and the battery compartment. These were produced in the 50's and 60's as well. This guy isn't functioning, but I'm hoping to find someone who can get him going again.

Is battery box corroded ? That is first reason they don't work. I have had several of these and my husband repaired them but it is much work as their clothes are glued on and hard to get to electrical wires . he is cute but I wouldn't pay to have him fixed as the value is not as high on him as a few years ago . Does he have teeth ? I can't see them ?

The battery compartment actually appears to be in pretty good shape, better than the rest of him. He does have teeth, but he's kind of stuck in the position he's in since he doesn't work. Even if he's not worth much and not in working condition, he's a great piece.

Yes he is a great Monkey. Maybe you can work on him . Does he move at all or power on ? It maybe just a poor wire going into battery box . Sand battery contacts . I bet you can get him going . I love these but are noisy LOL

Hi, just some simple troubleshooting advise: With fresh batteries, does it make any kind of noise? If not, strong possibility that a wire has become disconnected inside. Could be an easy fix if you have the confidence of disassembling the toy. Most toys of that vintage can be taken apart and put back together with a little care and of coarse, patience is the key. Newer toys are glued or assembled in a way that will cause them to break if you try to disassemble. Love your toy! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it again, I don't think it made any noise, but I wonder if there's any little humming or ticking like it's trying to do something.
