    I found this ashtray several years back at a local yard sale. It's so simple but made with strength from aluminum. That's a 20mm bullet on top. I call it trench art but I think maybe it was commercially made.
    I post it today to memorialize this day, June 6, the 67th anniversary of the Allies landing in Normandy.

      Great item. My father landed at Normandy with the 190th Field Artillery, he was a Battery Commander. Thank you for posting.

      And thank you packrat, I salute your Father for his service. I received some things at an auction, several years back, that belonged to a man who had served with the 202nd Field Artillery. I believe this man went ashore in the fourth wave.

      Nice ashtray-- it is still considered "trench art" despite being a manufactured piece.
