Does anyone know what the purpose of these ingots would be. I picked these up at a flea market for, I think, $5.00. Many years ago when silver was inexpensive. Of course, it is almost the image of a buffalo nickel. Hopefully i'm not harboring a counterfeiting item. :-( But what dummy would counterfeit nickels? Jimbo

They were produced in large numbers for what reason?
    2. jimborasco jimborasco, 12 years ago
They made them in large numbers but i can't find any like them anywhere on the internet. There should be some record of them. At least someone selling a set.

Thanks for the information fhrjr2-- these "clad" silver pieces are a little dangerous on the secondary market with recent silver prices.

Crooks will counterfit anything for profit. Coin dealer told me 50d nickles were counterfitted resulting in a decline in value of the orignals

Value be dammed.. They have value to me!!
    12. jimborasco jimborasco, 12 years ago
There seems to be confusion between value....and worth. Worth is monetary, value is what they mean to you.

      You are correct Jimbo!!

This was told to me by some people on here as CLAD. It's not!
