Dear Imagine possibilities,
completely by chance I have seen this neckless online with the womans face, and recognised it instantly as by my late Aunty June Metaxides of Grand Bahama Island, circa 1970's or '80's, (probably)....
The initial mentioned on the back, JM, further confirmed my memories of visiting Aunty June in her place in Fort Lauderdale around the mid 1990's, and seeing about several dozen similarly fashioned pieces in a draw she pulled out to show me there!
What they were made of could have been some specially formulated resin concoction she favoured, but other than that vague notion to go on, I would have to ask her sister Aunty Eileen of Princeton,New Jersey! If this line of enquiry is still something you would like to check out, then I would be more than happy to get you the info I feel she could know, as she too is an artist!
Hope this is usefull, and will use this surprise incident as a long overdue 'excuse' to get in touch with her again regardless. Thanks, Adam Cutts, Catford, London...
I would love more information on it. The church that I purchased it at was Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Sanford, FL. The parishioners of the church donated items to be sold at a Holiday Craft Bazaar and I thought it was very interesting. Thanks for the reply and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Information on the 'face piece' has been printed off and sent to said Aunt as a hard copy, whence it will be forwarded to 'JM's husband, whom I await more details from by email...so that bit will hopefully not take as long! Will forward his reply as soon as!

Hello cousin Adam!! and hello to Imagine Possiblities. Yes, this is definitely Auntie Junie's piece, and yes it was some sort of hardened resin that she used. she would mold the 'head' and then individually decorate the hair. i spent many hours/days in her workshop while she tooled away on her medusa heads. she also had some lovely mirrors that were decorated from the same material. i recently saw one for sale on the interent... adam- would love to reconnect... think about you often! look me up on facebook! love, Randa! I, too own one of your Aunties heads. Only recently i wore it to rave reviews and questions of its origins. I bought mine on Staten Island NY around the time it was a new item. it won't wind up on at a crafts fair as my granddaughter has her eye on it. Still lovely.
