Hi keeponpushin. From what little I can see it looks like a really interesting chair. But I can't tell anything about the arms/legs/back. If anyone here can help you, you'll need to give a little information about it and try to describe it a little better. A picture of the entire chair showing the legs, arms and perhaps the bottom and back would be helpful. Do you know any history about the chair, perhaps who owned it before you and where it could possibly have originated? All these things could possibly help someone help you. I hope to see more of this chair! :-)

Thank you for your interest in helping me identify this chair. Posted couple more pics. Really have no clue about Anything on this chair, recovered it from an eviction where someones things were thrown out in the yard. Took me a while to realize it was actually. Lions heads with their mouths open biting

Biting down onto the chair itself.

What a great old chair! Love the claw feet and lion heads. I have a bow front china cabinet, late 1880's that has a similar motif. There was a resurgence of those designs early in the 19teens,(I think) but most were oak. I'd guess that yours is about the same age as mine, but that would just be a guess. At first I thought yours was oak, but as I look at the new pictures, I'm not so sure. There is probably a place underneath the seat, in one of the corner braces that has one or more screws in it. If you can take one out without damaging your chair, that can tell you quite a bit. If it's old, it shouldn't be a phillips head and the way the threads are made can help date it too. If you should take one out, maybe you could post a picture of it. It looks like leather on the chair, but again from the pictures that's hard to say for sure. You can probably tell by looking underneath to see if it's leather or naugahyde. Naugahyde will have a cloth/woven backing. That's about all I know... not much, but hopefully it will get you started and surely someone else will be able to tell you more! Thanks for sharing this great old chair! :-)

Hmm...what now?? Well, from what I can see in the pictures, it looks as if the chair was covered in a different way at some point. From the pictures it looks like there are either tack holes or staple holes that may have held fabric that went over the front and sides so you might look at chairs that are covered in that way rather than as it is now covered. Also, the back may have been entirely covered too. Rather than the back pad of what looks like leather, maybe it was covered up and over between the lions heads. Sorry I can't help you with anything, but hopefully someone else will be able to. :-)

The arms look regency period or possibly empire period. It looks revival, late 1800's from what I can see prob from the U.S. The carving is more elaborate than usual. Most of the thousands of furniture makers left this earth with no records left behind. Thousands of these were made and I collect those 2 periods because they aligned in time. Beautiful chair.
