Since switching from HO scale trains to 3-rail tinplate nearly twenty years ago, many of the things I've bought were geared towards a tinplate train layout. This was different. It is in fact nicely sized for a tinplate layout - especially one with a European theme, but actually I got this while stationed in Germany during the 1980s. Around Christmas time they would sell these large, beautiful tin-litho containers filled with Lebkuchen (German ginger cookies) and other treats. The large containers generally held several smaller ones, each filled with cookies (or biscuits) and treats. This was one of those smaller containers. I get a kick out of the small 'Bratwurst Bell' on one side of the house - just what every house needs! :-)
