My friends found this out front of their neighbours - they were throwing it out. The neighbours don't know anything about it, as it was in the house when they moved in.

Originally I thought it might be a hitching post, but the holes in the hands don't go all the way through, and are not really in the right position to hold a ring as you can see in picture 2. Also, I think hitching posts were mostly made out of iron and he is made of wood. He's really quite charming. Stands about 3' tall.

Could this be a one-off for some sort of advertising or something? We really don't anything about it, and would like to know more!

      Hello,
The figure is probably a promotional item for Jonnny Walker whiskey, google it and you will see. In the logo, the figure holds a cane and a monocle. The figure appears to be quite large, which is unusual. Usually items like these were use as display pieces behind bars or in liquor stores.
You do not state what the material is, so it is tough to state the exact age, I'll guess the 1930s.
      Hope this helps.

Sorry, you said wood, so I'll guess it is even earlier, possibly 1900 to 1920. Very nice find!

Hi You have a Johnny Walker figure to advertise Whiskey by Margit Nilsen . He is missing his cane and also holds a eye piece . Look at bottom of stand you should see Margit Nilsen Studio's stamped on it .
Margit Nilsen was famous mannequin sculptor . I have several of her miniature mannequins . She did get commissioned to make a few figures and he is one of them .

I guess the next question would be value? I can't find anything comparable (now that I know what I am looking for) online. Any ideas?

They don't sell real high since we are not a site to give you a value . I would suggest searching ebay completed listings for a Johhny walker display figure . Does your's have Margit Nilsen stamp on bottom ?
